HTC HD2
The HTC HD2 (also known as the HTC T8585, HTC T9193 and HTC Leo), is a mobile telephone running the Windows Mobile operating system. The phone was designed and manufactured by HTC, and was released in Europe in November 2009, and in December 2009 in Hong Kong. In some other regions, including North America, it will be released in 2010.
It is the first smartphone with a 4.3-inch touchscreen, the first Windows Mobile phone with a multi-touch capacitive screen and HTC Sense, and the second smartphone with a Snapdragon ARM CPU (the first being the Toshiba TG01). Because older parts of the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system were primarily made for stylus input, HTC sells an optional stylus pen for the HD2. Some Windows Mobile applications were designed to be used with a stylus, rather than finger-touch, and still need a stylus pen to be used effectively.
The HTC HD2 has suffered from a number of bugs and issues:Some HD2 handsets have a camera defect that causes a magenta color cast that has been described as a “pink aura” to appear on all photographs. HTC has released a software fix for the issue, which the user can install onto the handset using a Microsoft Windows computer connected via a USB cable. The software patch, however, is unable to fix the camera defect when shooting video, and video shot with the HTC HD2 still exhibits the pink circle in the center of screen.
A bug with the phone’s SMS sending software was reported, where SMSes send from within the HTC Sense interface software would stay in the outbox and not be delivered to the receiver. HTC released a software patch for the issue, though many users still reported the issue remained, even after installing the software patch.
The large touchscreen has difficulties determining the accurate location of the user’s finger, sometimes jumping and flipping between two neighbouring locations, even when the finger is still. HTC is working on a fix for the problem.
